Linear Motion Unit Q & A

+ What is the base extrusion size and how does that impact selection?
For the Linear Motion Unit 50 series, the base extrusion is 50 × 100 mm (PIL 5010).
For the Linear Motion Unit 100 series, the base extrusion is 100 × 100mm (PIL 1010).
For the Linear Motion Unit 50 with Omega Drive, the base extrusion is 50×100 (PIL 5010).
Choosing the appropriate size depends on your load, space constraints, and required structural rigidity. The larger 100 × 100mm extrusion offers higher stability which is beneficial for heavier loads or larger carriage plates.
+ What is the maximum transmittable drive torque (Md max) for these units?
All variants list a maximum transmittable drive torque of 60 Nm. This specification defines how much drive torque the system is designed to handle under normal conditions; it’s important when selecting motors, drives or when designing for high-dynamic loads.
+ What carriage stroke per revolution can I expect?
The carriage stroke per revolution is 200 mm for the 50, 100 series, and 50 with Omega Drive. This means one full revolution of the drive interface moves the carriage 200 mm linearly, which is useful for calculating speed, lead length, and cycle rate.
+ What is the pitch circle diameter (PCD) of the drive interface?
The PCD is specified at 63.66mm for both variants. This dimension is critical for mounting interfaces, coupling to motors, or when integrating custom drive flanges.
+ What is the positioning accuracy of the unit (excluding drive backlash)?

Positioning accuracy is ±0.2 mm for all variants, excluding any drive backlash.
